about
Born and raised in the small town of Somersville, CT, Matt Sciaretta has been playing drums since the age of 7. He cut his teeth on rock, blues and jazz throughout his teens and twenties with the direction of Sal Raniello, Tony Campanelli, Richard Sadlon and Noel Monet. During these formative years, Matt was heavily influenced by master jazz drummers like Art Blakey, Will Kennedy, and Peter Erskine. He received his bachelors of music from the Hartt School of Music in 1998. He spent seven years in Southern Connecticut playing in various bands as a full-time, working musician between Hartford and NYC.
While living in Monroe, CT, Matt owned and operated a multimedia and music production studio. Recording and producing over 100 music performers, he learned the ins and outs of music production, engineering, project management and small business.
In 2002, he moved to Kingston Springs, TN. He has enjoyed the last 15+ years becoming part of the diverse fabric of the Nashville music scene. Matt has developed a variety of styles, including but not limited to jazz, rock, funk, blues, bluegrass and has been a hired gun both on stage and in the studio for many years. Striving for constant growth as a musician, Matt also writes music on bass, guitar and piano. His compositions have been played on public radio, used as soundtracks for training, sales presentations and commercial work.
In 2013, Matt and his family moved to Franklin, TN. What's left of his time he enjoys spending with his family and three great kids, nature, being active and living a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Starting in 2016, Matt started splitting his time between Tennessee and New England.
